Servings: 4-6
Ingredients
1 block (454 g) firm tofu, cut into cubes of about 2 cm
2 tsp. canola oil
2 cups broccoli florets
2 cups uncooked rice
4 green onions
for the sauce
1/3 cup water
1 tsp. sesame oil
3 tbsp. tamari sauce
¼ cup hoisin sauce
1 tsp. cane sugar
1 tbsp. ginger
1 tbsp. minced garlic
Instructions
Cook the rice as directed on the packaging
In a small bowl, combine all the sauce ingredients and set aside.
In a large skillet, heat the oil over medium-high heat and place the tofu cubes. Cook for 3 to 4 minutes. Turn the cubes over and cook again for 3 to 4 minutes. Repeat to brown on all sides of the cubes.
Meanwhile, put the broccoli with 3 tsp. water in a bowl lined with plastic wrap. Bake in the microwave for 2 minutes until the broccoli is cooked, but still crunchy.
Add the sauce to the pan with the tofu. Bring to a boil, stirring to coat the tofu. Cook for another 5 minutes
Sprinkle green onion and serve over rice.
